I love the fact that people are designing web sites that look good on small screens such as phones and tablets, but they are forgetting that many people are still using larger monitors. I know that it goes against modern design principles, but for me, any image that stretches all the way across the window on a large screen just looks awful. Give me back my white space!!

A website should be usable at many resolutions. Some websites however, are designed to use at least 1280x1024, which is, in my opinion, far too large. A website should not have to require a width over 960 pixels wide if it can be helped. In that case, it exactly fits within half of a 1920 pixel wide monitor, while still not requiring a maximized window on 1280x1024. It even works on a 1024x768 monitor, when using the site full screen.
