I miss function of easily displaying random images from my Sony where you just put images in certain folder and that was all you need to do.
But, working with html files have also some advantages, as you say.
Speaking about this, would it be possible to affect system wide power off and suspend screens from KSM? Probably not, but it would be great if possible...

Well, in Sony ebook readers it functioned not as a live slideshow, but each time you suspended device you had different image, of course, if you had more than one.
But of course, though nice feature, I can live without it.
