If it is an option, it is enabled by default. The only installed option that I can think of which affects the file being imported into Calibre is the de-drm plug in tool 6.2.1. Otherwise, my Calibre setup is pretty much default, other than the options in preferences we've discussed above.

I just scanned through the first 25 books in my Calibre library and 13 of them show AZW3 (one being AZW3 only) and MOBI. The others are MOBI only.

Is this what you are referring to?

This thought just occurred to me: are we talking about what format(s) Calibre shows? Or what gets sent to the Kindle via [my email@ kindle.com]?
