Also make sure the audio file is actually stopped before turning the reader off. This caught new users on the 500 by surprise -- it appeared to be off but in reality the mp3 file kept on playing. The mp3 playing software hasn't appeared to change, so if you listen to an audio book make certain the file is actually stopped before turning the player off.

I have a memory stick pro duo in my 700 and don't notice a significantly more rapid drop in power usage. I'm sure there is some, but not enough to account for only one hour on a full charge -- but having an audio file keep playing would certainly explain that.
