i have never seen a workflow of "buy book -> K for PC -> Calibre" result in two formats of the same book in calibre library.
When I check my calibre library for books acquired like that, I see a mix of mobi & AZW3 , but no doubles. ( & I don't recall manually deleting any such)
maybe due to a recent change to K for PC though, I noticed it auto-updated very recently and have not bought anything since then.
a lot of the best "selling" freebies are only in .mobi format.
