what is the difference between "root" and "jailbreak" ?

I would like to install jailbreak. but not the difference between the two. what you recommend?

to install jailbreak must disarm the kindle! ... Right? and if so! ... You know if there is a guide? . excuse my English, I speak Spanish and Italian! ... But not English (Google translate)
