It took me 24 hours to get the submission to work right. I didn't use any tax software, though, just the web form, so maybe you'll get it right on the first try.
My ex was a tax preparer -- extensions are pretty routine, I believe. Just make sure you pay an estimated amount, if you think you'll owe. THAT doesn't get extended (the deadline for paying). ((As I recall))
