I use Type Mail (formally Blue Mail) it's a multi email app. I use it for four email addresses, 1 ISP, 2 Hotmail and a Gmail. The hotmail and Gmail sync with my laptop and other tablets (ios) but the isp doesn't. I've not had any issues at all with the app or my emails.

I don't use the fire email app as that is signed into my husbands gmail as it then syncs his calender (which we use) so I found using another email app for my emails was easier.

Type mail is free in the Amazon App Store.

I've never experiance any 'jamming up' so not really sure whats happening to your Fire. I have a Fire HDX 7
