The one thing I've decided not to follow up on is waiting with playing Pillars of Eternity.
After some more research, it looked like I should be able to run the game without too much problems, and I took the plunge, buying it at full price. (The last time I did that was with Dragon Age: Origins in 2009.) The worst outcome would be that I couldn't play it now, thus spending about €20 more than I would next year. Well... I can live with that, if it's money for GOG.com. I gladly support them.
The outcome is that the game seems to run fine on this old rig, with some power to spare even, and I've put everything else (my current Baldur's Gate run, reading at home, and other hobbies at home) on hold to play this thing. If nothing strange happens, it looks like that there's finally a game again that I *really* want to play.
