I'm having a curious problem.
I referred another email address of mine. When I went to set up an account with that email, it told me it was already in their system. OK, I vaguely remember having some issue with an account at the beginning and deciding to just create a new one. So I tried to log in with the password LastPass has saved for that email. Nope. OK, I'll just reset the password. Which I do, but it tells me the email/password I just set don't match their records.
So I can't set up a new account with that email, I can't use the password that should go with it, and I can't reset it to something new. Nice. At least I know I can use the coupon that came with that referral on my regular account, and since it sounds like no one's getting the after-first-purchase coupons anyway it's no loss.
Except now I'm not 100% sure I never did buy anything on that account, and now I can't get into it to check and/or redownload anything if necessary. Just the usual Kobo fun.
