I damaged my kindle pw when my computer crashed while the kindle was plugged in. After that the kindle would begin to load up and then get stuck on 'error code: 2'. I called Amazon support and was told that it could not be repaired.
The factory reset advice given here worked perfectly! Thank you very much OP. I'm pretty disgusted with Amazon and it's so-called support.
