Own an H2O, thinking about a Voyage
Hi,
I previously owned a 1st gen paperwhite and whilst I loved it to bits, I am one of those people who likes to have the newest and best of everything. I am also incredibly impatient, so because there was a long waiting time when the Voyage was initially released in the UK, I jumped sideways over to Kobo and bought the H2O.
Whilst I like my Kobo, and haven't actually had any problems with it, I am finding myself missing certain elements of my old Kindle, like the super simple emailing of books, better (although obviously not ideal) PDF reader, the much more consistent formatting between side loaded and Amazon-bought books and the generally much better prices and experience of shopping in the on device Amazon store. The page turn "buttons" also appeal to me, as does the smaller size and better availability of cases (my H2O is currently just shoved in an old iPad slip cover, as I don't like the few cases I have seen for it enough to shell out for one!).
The only possible issues I'd have with the Voyage are the screen tint issues I have read about and, at least on my PW, the irritating font sizes that meant I could never actually get a "perfect" size for me. Have either of these improved or changed, or in the case of the latter issue, is there a way round it via jailbreaking or whatever?
I have suddenly found myself with a little bit of extra money, and am once more contemplating switching back to the Amazon ecosystem and getting the Voyage. Can anyone give me any opinion on this, is it a complete waste of money and should I just be happy with what I have, or is it definitely a superior experience and not just a case of the grass is always greener? Or am I better off making myself wait until a new generation is released, presumably following the autumn pattern set so far?
Thanks so much for any replies!
