I bought an EPUB3 (with DRM) a week ago and I was able to download the .acsm. ADE failed when trying to download it to its library, it gave me an error and kept crashing... I suspect because it was a very big file (around 500mb). I had to resort to the obok plugin with Calibre in the end. Anyway yes, it was an .epub.
