I tried doing this once. I wanted to share a humorous passage with my friends on Facebook. Unfortunately, only the first few words of the selected passage were posted to my Facebook account, and if anyone clicked on the link thinking they would be able to see the entire passage it just took them to the Kobo bookstore. I was disappointed.
