Books where the codes like PROMOCODE_40 won't work may work with the contest codes. Just bought a book like you said is coupon eligible, won't let me apply the PROMOCODE_40, but would let me apply one of the contest codes I have found here.

I am glad that electronic books are available... I work in a university in China where ordering textbooks or books for the library usually take 2 to 3 months becoz the books have to go through censorship.
