Hah, welcome to Macbooks. After a year, mine started the notorious screen peel. And then it suddenly wouldn't check gmail. Nor stream YouTube very well. I found everybody else having this issue too on various forums. Re-formatting the drive didn't fix, nor tweaking my DNS, buying an airport device, nothing.
What finally fixed it was selling that thing and just using a different laptop. Now somebody else can deal with all that.
