I want to follow Better Read's suggestion to post a thread of my own, but I am not sure how to do that. Can a moderator split what follows into its own thread and send me a link to it so I know where to find it?

If you're getting a different message there, then then you probably don't have the same problem. And if that's true then it would be preferable to create your own thread and post the complete error trace.

REsults I got when opening Calibre 2.21:
calibre, version 2.21.0

End End of errors
following Kovid's advice I implemented the steps he suggested and I opened 2.21 successfully; however all my categories said zero books. that means i have to use Calibre to rebuild my library from my backup.
Does anyone know of traps and errors to avoid when adding books back from backup? I suppose the add-back is by each book and not a group of books for the same author?
All experience shared will be much appreciated. Thank you !!!
