Question T1 (and T2, T3), japanese model, setting firmware to English?

I am considering of buying a Sony Reader T1 (or maybe T2 or T3), japanese model, which I can get very cheap. I am a long-time PRS-505 user running PRS+ and love this device, but would like something with faster screen refresh and a little more contrast.

Does anyone know if firmware of the japanese model of the T1 can be switched to English language?

If this is not possible, I am anyway also very interest in rooting the Sony Reader so that I can sideload etc, so if the T1 can not be switched to English in the official firmware, would rooting (i.e. fully enabling Andorid as I understand) enable me to have it in English?

If that isn't possible either, is the jap. model of the T1 usable for someone with only rudimentary Japanese language skills?

Also I would be interest in the same questions, as they apply to the japanese models of the T2 and T3.

Thank you so much.
