So Garmin has no idea how to implement an update scheduler, and they make inferior products? OK -- but that doesn't mean auto-updates are inherently bad.

I know that flash happy people have take responsibility for their actions. My point was when I said "You can't say that auto updates are good when it's common to prevent people from downgrading." You said previously that preventing downgrading was bad, but if preventing downgrading happens frequently that also makes auto updating bad. You said auto updating was good.
The Garmin comment was just another example of bad auto updates from a long time ago - auto updates have always had problems.
