For the purposes (forward page, back page) that can be accomplished by the control patterns shown for the physical book (right picture), the eReader (left picture) has almost the exact same control pattern. At least my Kobo Glo does.
The physical book is easier to go to a specific page, but not necessarily a specific chapter. The physical book has no search function, and highlighting/notes requires additional equipment. And, of course, the physical book is only that, the eReader can contain multiple eBooks.
All in all, this is a misleading analogy.
