Did you really think I never watched my hands while clapping? What are the odds, in fact, that I just tested it out (again) and confirmed what I already knew -- that they meet in the middle?
And isn't it obvious that both hands go "cl", but the combination of two "cl" sounds transmogrifies into a "clap"? Doesn't it make more sense than to assume the sound is aware of which hand you used?
Don't non-English-speaking hands also make the "clap" sound, and thus the one-handed "cl" as well? (Aren't phonetic onomatopoeias truly universal?)
