Author sort capitalisation changed

I'm using Calibre 2.21 (Linux 64-bit). The behaviour of the Author(s) / Author sort on the edit metadata page has changed, but I didn't notice which version the change happened.

It used to be that when editing metadata the "set author sort from author" function on a name like MacLean retained its correct capitalisation, but now it becomes Maclean.

Is this a bug, or is it the intended behaviour?
