Book.azw3 (610 KB) (converted from epub)
Book.mobi (551 KB) (converted from epub)

War and Peace.epub (1 604 KB)
War and Peace.azw3 (2 226 KB)
That is almost 40% increase in size.

When you have hundreds of books it adds up.
It is what Calibre is really for , Managing a big-ish Library

I have a few dozen on my K4 at any one time (and still lots of room).
I delete as I finish, when the list shrinks to worrisome levels, I connect to calibre again and bring it back to relaxing levels with a new batch

Use The Calibre editor on that AZW3 and see if you spot the code hog. It could be your cover IMAGE setting, or a Font embed
