new to ebooks using old reader

Hi all,
I'm a new convert to the world of ebooks. I've always hated reading manuals (yes, I'm a manual reader) on the computer - I vastly prefer to wander around and curl up in any chair I desire rather than be tied to my desk. Even a laptop isn't that portable. So I never looked into the world of ebooks.

At Thanksgiving, I was visiting a friend and mentioned that I was considering looking into an ebook reader since space was a real issue for me and I had been hearing good things about the Sony PRS505. He then excused himself for a moment and came back with a REB1100 which had been sitting in his closet for a couple of years. He had received it as a Christmas present and decided it wasn't for him; so he gave it to me.

After fiddling around a bit, I was able to download several books from manybooks.net and have been happily reading ever since. This is in spite of the fact that almost immediately the device evinced an electrical defect via stripes of blank pixels across the screen. It's annoying, but the text is still legible and I haven't felt like risking taking it apart to see if it's anything obvious.

I have now become an ebook convert and am lusting after one of the EInk devices. But which one???!!! I need to keep reading the forums and decide how much money I'm willing to spend.
