Your post made me go and try to download a previously purchased book and same thing happened for me, can't remove the DRM. Fortunately I backup all my books so I'll never have to re-download any of them. And like you, I decided awhile ago to purchase elsewhere when this thread first started about not being able to remove the DRM.

Edit: Oh I finally got it to work with a new key! So my option to purchase from them is still open for now if they're ever the cheaper choice, but they'll be a last resort.
