I've now seen a couple people over on Alf's blog also discover that they can only unlock B&N books downloaded with Nookstudy. Like difflugia, I can still unlock all my Nookbooks from different download methods with one key. I think both of us got switched to the anti-social DRM last Fall when we changed our cc info. I'm curious if you changed your default cc whether it would sync up your keys. Obviously you may have already tried this or just wish to leave well enough alone. But I thought I'd throw the idea out here in case someone might want to give it a go.
At any rate, you're probably right that B&N is now moving toward different keys per device/app. That might be the finally piece toward making their DRM like Kindle and Adobe with a number of devices limit. Or at least severely limit us getting our grubby paws on unlockable epub files.
