OSX shares the unix underpinnings of linux which make for a much smoother system than Windows, while simultaneously having a controlled OSware distribution like Windows -- I would expect it to always be more stable.
The majority of Windows issues are when people install crapware and it clogs up Windows with too much garbage.

A lot of OS X issues are when a new version is installed and some software doesn't work or the upgrade breaks things because Apple changed things.
