Apple is saying that the watch's battery will last 18 hours. But, that's a lie. Real world use will find the watches have very poor battery life. Not even close to 18 hours. It needs a solar charger so you don't have an Apple watch that all it does is show you the time. When the battery gets low enough, it switches to time mode and that's it until it's charged enough.

We've learned enough from Apple that it's never a good idea to buy the 1st gen of anything they release because there is always going to be something majorly wrong with it. In this case, it's the battery. It just is not good enough.
