Your problem downloading is not uncommon. Hosting sites often default to using their own download managers for obvious reasons. These are usually Windows executables which don't do anything to speed-up the download, but do show adds and install questionable software. It seems you forgot to untick a check-box which would have allowed you to bypass the download manager.
