Other than having to recharge my 700 more than anticipated, I'm very happy with it and all of it's functions.
I'm going to visit a friend tomorrow who has bad eyesite. The number of pbooks he can buy/borrow are limited. I thought I would show him what the larger fonts look like on the 700 and suggest that he buy it.
To test before I showed it to him, I loaded one of the free PDF ebooks provided by Adobe Digital Editions. I changed the font size and oriented the book for landscape, things were looking good. I turned to page 2 and the last 2 lines of page 1 were visible, yet washed out, at the top of the page. There were also many line gaps as I continued to read more pages. I thought the whole purpose of reflow was to take care of these annoyances! This made for a difficult read. I then tried to scan using the swipe and hold method which worked great. I then tried to use the go to page with slider bar option. Sliding the bar to the middle of the book (I assumed the reflow would take some time), the unit crashed and restarted.
I lost all the bookmarks of the books that I was reading. Fortunately that was only 2, yet it took me 15 minutes to find where I had left off reading in each book.
Anyone else have crashes on their new PRS700's please let me know.
I'm going to try and duplicate the crash on my PRS505 to see if it is device related...I will get back here later with the results.
I'm also going to see what happens when changing orientation and enlarging text using a book in Sony's format. I will get back here with those results also.
This reader or the 505 looked to be a good solution to my friends eyesite problems but now I am reluctant to suggest it.
Any thoughts, anyone...
And as Marc would say, Cheers
