It was kind of hyped and recommended by many bloggers (rightly so). I think it is a justified winner and I don't like the attitude of this puppies group. They do exactly what they pretend to oppose. Were "Ancillary Justice" is a very good book (with some themes this group seems to oppose) many books they nominated were just okay and seem to be chosen not for the merit of the book but for promoting their political goal. Not to say anything about the authors of the books and some of them are quite nice reads, but contrasting them with the winner, the shortcomings are obvious.

I agree with you. I don't want this thread to become a discussion of the Puppies saga. I really don't know enough to form an opinion. I can only say that I have read some of the books on their list, and works by most of the authors. Whilst some are very good reads, there is nothing IMHO on their list even in the same class as Ancillary Justice. Whilst not always the case in the real world, an award winner should have that something special.
