Something Jon should keep in mind -- OSX in general isn't shut out from commercial applications the way linux is, Windows isn't special in that regard. (And that really is the only problem with linux anyway. Granted it will be in the fabled Year of the Linux Desktop when that changes.  )

I've read of issues on OS X when doing some upgrades. I've never had that with any eBook software.tools. If it works on Windows XP, it works on Windows 7. If it works on Windows 7, it works on Windows 8/8.1.
So really, Windows is the overall easiest OS to use. I'll keep on saying it because it's true. Read MR and you'll see the number of issues under Linux & OS X are much more than under Windows.
But to get back on topic, if you have a working key in the DRM removal tools, use Firefox with the Greasemonkey B&N download script and it brings back the download button B&N removed.
