I have a Samsung Galaxy TabPro 8.4 and think it's excellent as a reading device (although battery life could be better). Calibre itself and Alf's tools are not appropriate for an Android device but FWIW two of my essential reading-related apps are:
- Calibre Companion to handle Wi-fi transfer of books to device and be the best Android library organiser you could possibly wish for if you're a calibre user. Not free but it's the best value-for-money app I own. There is a free demo version (full function but limited to 20 books). It's developed by chaley, one of the main calibre developers, and his family. It doesn't handle the actual reading of the books but it does interface seamlessly with many of the popular epub reading apps (e.g. Mantano, Pocketbook, Moon+, etc)
- Ivona text-to-speech with British Amy voice - currently free in Google Play. Really handy to continue reading when your hands/eyes are busy doing something else (although your family may not appreciate you shush-ing them all the time
).
