Not sure how often I will use this in real life situations. I don't carry my Fire around when I go out and about. I am thinking this is more useful on the fire phone.
I don't have kids, but I an see how that could keep them entertained for a while.
It gets songs too I think, although I didn't try it yet. On the TV show it puts all the info on the screen with a handy link to the instant video store.

I checked my HD6 and sure enough it was there. Haven't played with it too much yet, but I did find out it recognizes dogs as well as cats
It also worked well for recognizing a song hubby was listening to but couldn't remember either the name or the artist. Firefly gave me both and of course told me it was available as mp3, what album it was on and how much
I don't know how much I'll use it, I don't have kids either, but it might keep me entertained for awhile
