The password request means that when you set up the wireless device driver in calibre you said that connections need a password. To erase the password or find out what it is, in calibre go to Connect/Share and stop the wireless device driver. Go to Connect/Share again, start the wireless device driver, and change the settings however you want.
Regarding CC's settings: are you saying that when you use CC to back up the settings on the old device, copy the file to the new device, then use CC to restore the settings, something goes wrong? What?
