It sounds as if you destroyed your own Kindle!

Why, oh why, did you take the battery out?!

Amazon is very understanding about its products that fail (sometimes even those products that are out of warranty).

If you bought this new in November, it still would have been under warranty!

I'm going to repeat that:

If you bought this new in November, it still would have been under warranty!

Now you have zero negotiating room for some kind of replacement.
