One other option you might try is to plug your kindle into your computer with a usb cable.

I dropped my K4NT a few months ago (12" fall) and somehow it damaged the power button. (button no longer functions).

BUT, I discovered that when I plug my kindle into my computer, it switches to "USB Drive Mode" and "wakes up" then unplug and its back to reading mode (as if I had pushed the power button) and I can read until the next time it "falls asleep" from inactivity.

(I am overseas, and the shipping costs to have returned it for warrantied repair would cost almost as much as a new one. So I will wait until I return to USA to send it for repairs)
