1. I wish to have all my epub books in a separate library that will be synced with a memory stick. This is not all my books. This is for a family member who does not have access to my computer. (Because they always want to change the way I do things - ah, the arrogance of youth!) And is not interested in history, biographies etc.
2. Once I have tinkered and converted there will be no further changes to the metadata that will need to be carried out on two files. It is at this stage that I want to separate off the epubs from my azw3s.
However, if there is no easy way to do it then I can live with that. I currently copy to a dedicated library then delete the unwanted formats in that library. And remove the retained format from the originating library.

If you just want to save the ePub books themselves it's dead easy:
1. Use "Filter by format" in the tag browser to show all your ePub books.
2. "Ctrl+A" in the book list to select them all.
3. Right click, "Save to Disk" -> "Save a single format to disk".
4. Select "ePub" as the format.
You don't actually need step one if you don't care about seeing a list of the books.
