That is small gage, enamel insulated, "magnet" wire (going by the picture).
No telling from the picture exactly what size (gage) it is - - 28g ... 36g ??

I suggest to people to use 30gage "wire wrap" wire -
It is nominally 30 gage with colored insulation and usually silver plated copper (makes it very easy to solder).

Both choices ("magnet wire" and "wire wrap wire") are usually available at your local electronic hobby store.
(Such as RadioShack in several countries.)
