How does being able to read on a Blackberry bear on the subject? Pardon if I missed something recently, but I been buying an RV (done), prepping for a 25-year garage sale (in process) and selling our house (TBD).Been only speed-reading thru forum posts lately...

Unfortunately I think that you're only going to be able to download your ebook by opening the Kobo app on a tablet.
It's an epub 3 book that doesn't show in Kobo Desktop for PC, so that usually means tablet only.
The no Blackberry symbol means that the books can't be downloaded in your 'My Library' kobobooks.com account. It means that they're kepub only books and can (usually) be found in Desktop for PC. Except for some books which can only be downloaded via a tablet. (Such as your book)
And there's no way (yet) to free up a book that's been downloaded via the kobo app on a tablet.
So, I'd keep trying to get Kobo and get a refund for this book.
Did you use a discount code to purchase the book? Then ask for the code back as well. And yes, they will give you the code back.
