You know, if the goal is to read a book that is compelling, and we want to read about Shackleton's Endurance journey, then I'd actually suggest that we read Albert Lansing's
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage. It's a much more compelling book, and includes the viewpoints of others on the Endurance. And it's also available as a KU book. I know when I first started reading about Antarctica before we went there in 1999/2000, I started with
South, but had to drop it and read Lansing's book first, then go back to
South. The language and tone of Shackleton's book is not nearly as approachable.
