Honestly, I think that the Caecilia-hate is a bit over the top. I don't mean, from you, Wolfie, I mean that sort of generalized loathing (like Gates-hate, as opposed to the slavish Jobs-worshipping). I had a client, back in 2010, that was OBSESSED about how "bad' Caecilia was, yadda yadda, tried everything to get me to make his book in Georgia, I think it was, and lo, when he actually finally GOT a real-live Kindle e-ink, found he LOVED Caecilia. I don't mind it for reading, either, not at all.
No, it's not GAWJUS, but at least it doesn't wear out your eyes. {shrug}.
