I lost a job for saying just that!
In 1964 I had a summer job at the World's Fair, as a counter man in a snack food stand. The fair was going broke the first year, and people were being laid off left and right. We had a good crew, and a very good manager, and he was having trouble figuring out who to lay off. It's was on a Friday, and a group of Nuns were touring the fair, and stopped at our stand for lunch.
"What can do you have that has no meat? It's Friday and we can't eat any."
I suggested the hot dogs... The manager overheard.
