This creates a feeling of elitism among their customers, which in turn convinces them to continue shopping at an establishment that treats them with the respect their cleverness deserves!

Isn't that how brick-and-mortar bookstores do it? Hide the bargain books in the middle of the other ones, so you have to pull them off the shelf to find out which ones have lower prices, so when you find a bargain, you feel like you've won a prize?
