Exactly what version of Windows are you using? If ServicePacks exist for it have you updated your OS to have all of the SPs installed?

My virtual machine is a Windows 7 Home Preimum with Service Pack 1 installed and it seems to function just fine with the official Sigil builds.

It seems strange that you are having so many problems with crashing on your system when most others don't seem to be seeing the same things. Have you run a full memory test just in case you have flakey memory? Are their other system diagnostics you can run?
