One way that works very well is to do most of the work (buying, downloading, DRM removal (if there is any DRM), conversion) and if the tablet is Android, use Calibre Companion to manage your eBooks. If it's an iPad, use Dropbox.

I'm confused. All I said is that I should be able to download and read a drm free epub on my tablet. Just like I can do from the MobileRead library. I made no mention of Amazon.
