The story is intense yet fun, at times humorous, and quite interesting, but there is a lot of info to digest - like a whole lifetime's worth.
I'm assuming its because this is the first book in the series and the author is trying to lay as much ground work as possible.
While some of the reviews (even 4 & 5 star ones) find Myfanwy a bit flat, I disagree - I really like her.
There are some very specific things I would like to have happen, but I have no idea if they ever will.
Yep...frustratingly entertaining!!

Nothing in this story was what I expected.
Even as we got to know more about the characters, expectations that were met had an extra twist or two.
As I mentioned earlier, I've read a few complaints about the leading lady being obviously written by a man, but truth be told, I like her. Despite a few cliches, stereotypes, and generalities committed by the author, I find Myfanwy to be understated, yes, but also interesting and unique.
It is clear that both she and Mr. O'Malley were experiencing growing pains throughout the process, but that did not deter my enjoyment of the story one bit.
Oh, and the specific thing I wanted to happen did (yay), and in a way I didn't expect but was happy to read.
I now have another thing I'm wondering about, and I'm curious to see if it will happen in the second book, which comes out this summer.
