Even if it is a completely new and completely amazing feature, you may as well wait. Software features seem to trickle back to older hardware. If it is a hardware feature, it will probably find its way into next year's hardware (which would offer you more options as to the format).
Anyhow, only tomorrow will tell. I'd guess that hardware is coming sooner rather than later because of the firmware leak, simply because companies don't like to leak details of impending releases too soon.
