I use my Kindle mostly at home and this rubber case offers plenty of protection for the occasional slip-out-of-hand or fall-out-of-bed. So I don't need a cover to protect it from car keys or anything it could share a bag or pocket with, or from high altitude plunges onto sharp rocks. Though at the moment I'm still using it in combination with a screen protector. I had a matte anti glare screen protector first, but it significantly reduced the sharpness of the display. Kind of counter productive if you buy the Voyage for its high-res e-ink display. So now I have crystal clear screen protector on it, which turns the surface reflective like a smooth screen of glass. I can live with that for now, though I am considering getting rid of the protector. Just how scratch resistant is that hardened glass screen? I kind of don't want to find out by successfully scratching it...

Hi Hardy,

I have never had screen protectors for my kindles and never had any scratches. That said, I am usually pretty careful about not opening the case until I am in a stable position. I have dropped them in their cases without damage (knock on wood ). I think you would be OK.

Best wishes,
