I only have 3.5's to 1/4 since I had to plug mine into a mixer at school a few years ago.
Most of the iPhone cases come with something that looks like the second one. Make sure when you're looking for something that is specified to work with iPhone/mp3 players/stereo.
The first one doesn't have a grip or anything. That is going to be a nightmare to pull out.
This is definitely one of those things you buy at an electronics/music store.
